What is Multilingualism | बहुभाषिकता क्या है | Bhasha shiksha shastra
नाम से ही स्पष्ट है, 'बहुभाषिकता' इस शब्द में 'बहु' शब्द से आशय 'एक से अधिक' और 'भाषिकता' शब्द से आशय भाषाओं का प्रयोग। उदाहरण के तौर पर यदि किसी बच्चे के घर में तमिल भाषा बोली जाती है किंतु विद्यालय में होने वाली पढ़ाई इंग्लिश और हिंदी में होती है, तो बच्चे के लिए स्कूल में समायोजित होना काफी मुश्किल हो जाता है। कभी तो बहुभाषिकता बच्चों को सीखने में बाधा भी उत्पन्न करती है, किंतु जब बच्चे को अपनी भाषा के साथ-साथ अन्य भाषाओं को बोलने का मौका नहीं दिया जाता है तो वह अपनी भाषा के साथ धीरे-धीरे अन्य भाषाओं को सीखने लगता है एवं बालक में कुशलता का एक स्तर हासिल होने लगता है।
It is clear from the name itself, 'Multilingualism' is the use of more than one language and the word 'multi' means more than one and 'linguistic' means languages in this word. For example if Tamil is spoken in a child's home but schooling is in English and Hindi, it becomes very difficult for the child to adjust to school. Sometimes multilingualism also hinders children to learn, but when the child is not given the opportunity to speak other languages along with his language, he gradually start learning other languages with his languages and the child a level of proficiency is achieved in it.
सही अर्थों में, एक से ज्यादा भाषाओं के प्रति हमारा सम्मान का भाव प्रकट करना, बोलने में प्रयोग के विचार को स्वीकार करना और उसे रोजमर्रा के जीवन में स्थान देना ही बहुभाषिकता कहलाती है।
In the truth sense, to show our respect for more than one language, to accept the idea of use in speaking and to give it a place it in everyday life is 'Multilingualism'.
