यूनाइटेड किंगडम यूरोप महाद्वीप का महत्वपूर्ण देश है। यह उत्तरी अटलांटिक महासागर के पूर्वी हिस्से में द्वीप समूह के रूप में स्थित है। यूनाइटेड किंगडम के अंतर्गत ग्रेट ब्रिटेन और उत्तरी आयरलैंड को शामिल किया जाता है। ब्रिटेन के अंतर्गत इंग्लैंड, वेल्स और स्कॉटलैण्ड शामिल हैं। यूनाइटेड किंगडम के चारों ओर समुद्रों का विस्तार है।
United Kingdom is an important country in the continent of Europe. It is located on the eastern side of the North Atlantic Ocean as a group of islands. Great Britain and Northern Ireland are included under the United Kingdom. Britain includes England, Wales and Scotland. The seas extend around the United Kingdom.
इंग्लिश चैनल और डोवर जलसंधि के द्वारा यूनाइटेड किंगडम यूरोप महाद्वीप की मुख्य भूमि से अलग होता है। ग्रीनविच रेखा (प्रधान देशांतर रेखा) लंदन से होकर जाती है। लंदन यूनाइटेड किंगडम की राजधानी है। यूनाइटेड किंगडम की सबसे लंबी नदी 'सेबर्न' है, किन्तु यहाँ की सबसे महत्त्वपूर्ण नदी 'टेम्स' है। टेम्स नदी के तट पर ही लंदन शहर अवस्थित है। यूनाइटेड किंगडम की उच्चभूमि को 'मूरलैंड' कहा जाता है।

London is the capital of United Kingdom. The longest river in the United Kingdom is 'Seburn', but the most important river here is 'Thames'. The city of London is situated on the banks of the River Thames. The highlands of the United Kingdom are called 'Moorland'.

यूनाइटेड किंगडम की सबसे ऊँची चोटी 'बेन नेविस' है। यह स्कॉटलैंड में स्थित है। यूनाइटेड किंगडम की भूमि बहुत अधिक ऊँची-नीची नहीं है, इसलिए इसे निम्न उच्चावच वाला देश भी कहा जाता है। यूनाइटेड किंगडम की जलवायु की प्रकृति समशीतोष्ण महासागरीय है। यहाँ के तापमान पर महासागरों का प्रभाव बहुत अधिक रहता है। इस वजह से ग्रीष्म ऋतु और शीत ऋतु के तापमान में बहुत कम अंतर रहता है। देश के बहुत से क्षेत्रों में पछुआ पवनों का प्रभाव रहता है। इस कारण यहाँ के अधिकांश क्षेत्रों में वर्ष भर वर्षा होती है। वर्षा ग्रीष्म ऋतु की तुलना में शीत ऋतु में अधिक होती है। इस प्रकार की जलवायवीय दशाओं को 'ब्रिटिश तुल्य जलवायु' अथवा 'यूरोपीय जलवायु' कहा जाता है।
The highest peak in the United Kingdom is 'Ben Nevis'. It is located in Scotland. The land of the United Kingdom is not very low-lying, so it is also called a country of low elevation. The climate of the United Kingdom is temperate oceanic in nature. The influence of the oceans on the temperature here is very high. Because of this, there is very little difference between the temperature of summer season and winter season. In many areas of the country, there is an effect of westerly winds. Due to this, most of the areas here receive rainfall throughout the year. Rainfall is more in winter season than in summer. Such climatic conditions are called 'British equivalent climate' or 'European climate'.

उत्तरी सागर में 'डॉगर बैंक' नामक मत्स्य भंडार स्थित है। यह यूरोप महाद्वीप का महत्वपूर्ण मत्स्य भंडार है। यूनाइटेड किंगडम में प्रचुर मात्रा में खनिज संसाधन उपलब्ध हैं। यहाँ पाये जाने वाले प्रमुख खनिज कोयला, लौह अयस्क, पेट्रोलियम, प्राकृतिक गैस आदि हैं। यूनाइटेड किंगडम में लोहे के प्रमुख उत्पादक क्षेत्र उत्तरी लंकाशायर और यॉर्कशायर हैं। यहाँ पर लौह-इस्पात उद्योग ग्लासगो, बर्मिंघम, न्यूकैसल, स्वानसी आदि क्षेत्रों में पाये जाते हैं।

The major minerals found here are coal, iron ore, petroleum, natural gas etc. The major iron producing regions in the United Kingdom are North Lancashire and Yorkshire. Here iron-steel industries are found in areas like Glasgow, Birmingham, Newcastle, Swansea etc.
यूनाइटेड किंगडम में सूती वस्त्र उद्योग का प्रमुख केंद्र 'मैनचेस्टर' है। साथ ही ऊनी वस्त्र बनाने के प्रमुख उद्योग यॉर्कशायर में स्थित हैं। इंग्लैंड का लंदन विदेशी वस्तुओं के पुनर्निर्यात के लिये प्रसिद्ध है। लंदन और ग्लासगो जलपोत निर्माण के महत्वपूर्ण केंद्र हैं।
The main center of the cotton textile industry in the United Kingdom is 'Manchester'. Also the major industries for making woolen textiles are located in Yorkshire. London of England is famous for the re-export of foreign goods. London and Glasgow are important centers of shipbuilding.
