वृद्धि, विवृद्धि या अभिवृद्धि तीनों समानार्थक शब्द है। जिसका अर्थ शारीरिक शिराओं, अवयवों एवं विभिन्न संस्थानों में बढ़ाव को प्राप्त करने से होता है एवं उनके आकार और परिमाण में परिवर्तन होने से है। शरीर में बढ़ाव होने से शरीर के आंतरिक एवं बाह्य अंगों के विकास से है। Growth, growth or growth are all three synonyms. प्रतिवर्ष 8 जनवरी को Earth's Rotation Day (पृथ्वी घूर्णन दिवस) मनाया जाता है। यह दिवस फ्रांसीसी वैज्ञानिक Jean Bernard Léon Foucault (जीन बर्नार्ड लिओन फोकाल्ट) के जन्म दिवस के रूप में मनाया जाता है, क्योंकि लियोन फोकाल्ट ने 1851 में अपने एक मॉडल से साबित किया कि पृथ्वी अपनी धुरी पर कैसे घूमती है। इसी वजह से उनके जन्म दिन को अर्थ रोटेशन डे (EARTH ROTATION DAY) के लिए चुना गया।Around 470 BCE it was claimed by some astronomers in Greece that the Earth rotated but they could not prove how the Earth revolves around its own axis. Leon Foucault, after a number of studies for many years, first explained from a pendulum model that the Earth revolves around its axis, orbiting the Sun. After a few years, Lion Foucault's Pendulum modal became very famous and it was used to observe of the motion of the Earth.
